Every Hairstylist has different strengths so make sure they are experienced with vivid hair color, not all stylists are the same.
Vivid hair needs to be applied to extremely light hair, with no remaining undertones. (This sometimes can take more than one lightning session)
Do you have 3 year grown out blonde? Have your ends gotten lighter over the years? Sometimes it's all about how your hair already looks. We don't ALWAYS have to lighten it if you just want to add a pop of color. There are many options for how long the color will last. One wash? 10 washes? Several months? Make sure you tell your stylist what your short- and long-term hair goals are.
Plan on being there a few hours!
Names of colors mean something different to everyone, so pictures work best. Don't be afraid to bring multiple pictures just in case your hair won't work with the desired results. sometimes it takes multiple sittings to achieve the hair goal. Having an open mind will achieve the best results, Ask your stylist questions.
Back in the day there were less conditioning agents in hair color so you would need that extra protection. Now a days color is not as damaging, so there is no need to look greasy. It may add extra time to wash and blow dry before color service.
Hair is unpredictable or sometimes you need an extra conditioning treatment or more co sometimes the cost is more than the original quote. You will also need special hair products to maintain the vibrancy of the color. Color safe and vivid safe shampoo is not always the same, if your stylist tells you differently fire them.
You can also use a color depositing conditioner at home to keep your color vibrant in between salon services. Dry shampoo will be your best friend! (I can't say this enough)
This includes salon colors, perms, relaxers, sun-in spray, home colors, kool-aid, that extra drop of red from your daughters' box color 3 years ago, or anything else you think may be relevant. It will affect the results of your color (or make your hair fall out) We are not asking to judge you we just want to provide the best service with the least amount of damage.
Get your money's worth out of your new color
Cold water keeps the cuticle closed and color from fading, hot water opens the cuticle and releases color molecule.
No, that doesn't mean you have to take a cold shower. My advice wash your hair in cold water then use the normal temp on your body as the conditioner sits in your hair.
If you must go swimming wear a swimmer's cap and apply leave in conditioner prior to swimming. The color and shine in your hair will thank you.
Pastel color has the lowest amount of color pigment so it will fade faster than brighter or darker colors. Warmer colors, such as orange and red last the longest as they stick to the warmer tones your hair naturally has.
Shampooing hair pulls the color out faster so wash your hair as little as possible. Use dry shampoo in between washes to help fight off the natural oil.
When your bright colors in your hair the process is a little different than traditional coloring. There is no peroxide to open the cuticle, so the color doesn't go as deep into your hair.
But you will love it!
